Nordic Battery Thursdays

Nordic Battery Thursdays is a collaborative webinar series that provides in-depth insights on the potential, opportunities and impact of the battery sector within the Nordics. The purpose is to promote the Nordic drive for a sustainable battery value chain towards both the Nordic region and international markets.

2024

This Nordic Battery Thursday webinar explores the current situation for heavy duty charging in the Nordics, highlighting drivers, challenges and opportunities with input from key stakeholders in the value chain.

This special edition of our popular Nordic Battery Thursday series brings highlights from the Nordic Mining Day in Toronto, held in conjunction with the annual award winning PDAC Convention in Toronto. The discussion will give you insights into the growing collaboration between Canada and the Nordics and opportunities across the value chain.

This second Nordic Battery Thursday for 2024 explores financing solutions for the battery value chain. Since the launch of the European Battery Alliance in 2017, the European battery industry has developed substantially, with many new initiatives arising across the entire battery value chain. Will both public and private financial incentives and support mechanisms be enough to maintain Europe's appeal for investments across the battery value chain – especially considering current geopolitical challenges?

The first Nordic Battery Thursday for 2024 explores future opportunities and trends in battery reuse and repurposing in the Nordics.

2023

In this Nordic Battery Thursday session, we dive into the topic of battery materials and securing safety of supply in Europe, mining and new battery chemistries. It was part of the Nordic Regional Battery Visit – a site visit to Arendal, Norway – exploring innovative battery materials with a focus on regionally sourced raw materials and sustainable recycling.

This Nordic Battery Thursday webinar sees our expert guests discuss the current status and impacts of the US's Inflation Reduction Act on the European battery sector. It is now a year since the Inflation Reduction Act was passed, but what challenges, opportunities, and changes have happened in Europe in response? How has the industry reacted? What are the business opportunities in both the US and Europe? What is the status for the immense competition globally for the battery ecosystem?

In this session, our expert guests explore the market situation in the US, specifically the West Coast and Midwest regions. The panel discusses potential regulatory issues, the joint Nordic expedition to The Battery Show in Michigan, insights from the West Coast Battery Study, and the status of the market as whole.

The global battery industry is on a very strong growth path - creating both big opportunities but also challenges. One of the challenges the global battery industry is faced with, is acquiring the necessary talent and competence.

The latest edition of the Nordic Battery report displays the most comprehensive overview of the Nordic Battery Ecosystem yet. In this session, we're diving deeper to the findings and opportunities for the industry – and perhaps highlight a couple of surprises, too.

2022

Nordic cooperation on national level - the why and the how? The Nordic battery collaboration is anchored at the ministerial level and operationalized by our municipalities, research institutions, clusters as well as the individual companies. What does such a collaboration mean for our clients, foreign investors, and expats entering the Nordic corner of the world?

Currently the volume of recovered metals used in battery manufacturing is low. This particular webinar focuses on the topic of recycling and numerous initiatives for ramping up and enhancing the recyclability of batteries and battery materials as well as the possibility of re-usage – including inspiring company examples.

2021

Final webinar for 2021 focused on a European and global outlook for the Nordics. Extending the scope beyond the Nordic borders, discussions address how the Nordic region can work within the European and international ecosystem to strengthen the Nordic cooperation under the concept of the Nordic Smart Green Battery Industry.

A Nordic perspective from Norway deep diving into highlights from the Norwegian battery ecosystem, hearing panel discussions on piloting electric and digital innovation, the Norwegian battery producers on sustainability, and sustainability through circularity.

A Nordic perspective from Sweden, addressing the topics of innovation and FDI in the Swedish ecosystem – as well as two industry panel discussions covering sustainability and innovations driven by cell production and sustainability and innovations driven by application.

Our first Nordic Battery Thursday started with perspectives from Finland. A market overview was presented as well as a panel discussion on market development, the value of Nordic collaboration, and strongholds of the Nordic Battery Ecosystem with Nordic trade promotion organisation CEOs.
